Amor Libris: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Patricia Harris: Well, I am all over the place. I am a crafty soul and a highly creative person. I am an insomniac. I am currently riding in a big rig with my thirteen-year-old daughter and her father, my best friend of twenty-one years. I have been writing poetry since I was nine years old, but I have lost track of many of my poems. I am often sarcastic and have a somewhat morbid sense of humor.
Amor Libris: What is your favorite motivational phrase, and why?
Patricia Harris: Not sure what counts as motivational. My favorite quote is “Smile, it makes them wonder what you are up to.”
Amor Libris: What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Patricia Harris: I make jewelry, crochet, draw, do amateur photography, and do abstract art. I also play video games and run D20 games. I goof off on the Internet, and I love to read.
Amor Libris: What books and/or authors have influenced you the most?
Patricia Harris: Uhm, another place that I am all over the place. I am a voracious reader and I refuse to limit myself. I have a few favorite poets (Sara Teasdale, Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson, and Edgar Allen Poe), but I enjoy all poems (mostly, lol). I do enjoy several genres, and I enjoy many authors. Some of the authors I read the most are Tamora Pierce, Nora Roberts, Stephen King, Anne Rice, RA Salvatore, Laurel K. Hamilton, and Timothy Zahn.
Amor Libris: Are there any new authors who have caught your attention?
Patricia Harris.: Lots. Some of the authors are Cynthia Pilcher, Gail Carriger, Marica Vance, CJ Pinard, and CC Wood.
Amor Libris: Can you share the title and blurb of your latest book?
Patricia Harris: The Princess Lost. A tiny princess loses her way and makes a new friend who helps her find her way.
Amor Libris: Who is your favorite character from your latest book, and why?
Patricia Harris: Nystara, the princess. She is a fun little bit of a girl with a trusting heart.
Amor Libris: Are any of the characters and/or experiences in your books based upon yourself or someone you know?
Patricia Harris: Not really in that one. It is the second book of a series of stories that I told my daughter at bedtime.
Amor Libris: Can you share with us about what you are working on now or your next project?
Patricia Harris: I have a couple of projects going. I am always working on a poetry collection. The latest, Prompted Prose, is now available on Amazon. I am also working on middle grade short stories. Some are my own and some are a collaborative effort with another author. The other project I am working on is book three of my bedtime tales series, Attack on Shoe Mountain.
Amor Libris: Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Patricia Harris: Keep trying and realize that the bumps in the road are never permanent.
Amor Libris: How can we contact you and find out more about you and your books?
