Chapter One should open with a hook and end with a hook. Some readers make a decision to continue reading your book based on the first chapter. (It is a good idea to make sure all chapters end with hooks that keep readers turning the page.)
Check the tone in Chapter One. This chapter should convey the feel you intend for the story’s opening.
