Amor Libris: Are there any new authors who have caught your attention?
Jay Harez.: I just finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and loved it.
Amor Libris: Can you share the title and blurb of your latest book?
Jay Harez: Sure, it’s titled Wet Drive and it’s about a truck driver who smuggles along the Texas/Mexico border.
When you see an 18-wheeler on the highway do you ever wonder what’s inside? When Charlie – a desperate and out of work truck driver–agrees to smuggle something across the border and into Mexico he immediately regrets it.
His mysterious employers are determined to keep him in the dark about his cargo and Mexican drug cartels have decided to make him a target. However, if he lives through this it could be the most lucrative haul he’s ever had.
On the road Charlie learns that he is not prepared for the horror that travels with him as his cargo.
Amor Libris: Who is your favorite character from your latest book, and why?
Jay Harez: Unfortunately, I write about some really low-life characters, and although they have their charms, I find most of them to be just horrible people.
Amor Libris: Are any of the characters and/or experiences in your books based upon yourself or someone you know?
Jay Harez: As the saying goes, ninety percent of fiction is true, so there are some characteristics and behavioral stuff that I can attest to being real.
Amor Libris: Can you share with us about what you are working on now or your next project?
Jay Harez: Yes, I would be glad to. The premise is that a group of miners in south Louisiana is conducting a survey of an abandoned mine. They become trapped and realize at some point they are not alone and are in mortal danger. I’m going to title it after I’m done writing it.
Amor Libris: Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Jay Harez: Keep writing.
Amor Libris: How can we contact you and find out more about you and your books?
Jay Harez: Stage32 is an excellent way to contact me.
