Amor Libris: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Susan Faw: I am a Canadian author and mother of three. I write young adult fantasy, and I am a complete Harry Potter nerd. My collection extends to a prop wand from the first movie, signed first edition novels by JK Rowling, and an extensive collector card collection.

Amor Libris: What is your favorite motivational phrase, and why?

Susan Faw: “I was set free, because my greatest fear had already been realized, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” – JK Rowling

I love this quote as it is also my story, and I relate on a very personal level to the pain and the hope behind the thought.

Amor Libris: What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Susan Faw: Read and garden, and I also love to play a former Disney game called Toontown. You can find me there as Super Ultra Banana Peels, a green monkey!

Amor Libris: What books and/or authors have influenced you the most?

Susan Faw: Harry Potter (JK Rowling) is my all-time favourite, followed closely by The Wheel of Time Series (Robert Jordan) and The Sword of Truth Series (Terry Goodkind). Some more recent authors that I am quite enjoying are VE Schwab and Brent Weeks. I also have read a lot of Brandon Sanderson’s work (Mistborn) All of these authors have earned a place on the shelf.
